If you love New York theater, sharp comedy, and behind-the-scenes drama, mark your calendars — It’s Only a Play by Terrence McNally is coming to the Morningside Theater Co. this fall! Directed by Susanna Frazer, this fast-paced, laugh-out-loud comedy runs October 30 – November 16, 2025 at our theater in Morningside Heights, NYC.
Set on the opening night of a Broadway show, It’s Only a Play brings together an unforgettable mix of egos, insecurities, and wild personalities — all crammed into one Manhattan apartment for an after-party that’s as unpredictable as it is hilarious. With McNally’s signature wit, the play is a love letter to the theater world… and a sharp roast of it too.
Critics have called it:
“Hilarious, side-splittingly funny” — NY Times
“Deeply felt and honestly moving” — Variety
📅 Dates: October 30 – November 16, 2025
📍 Location: 100 La Salle St, New York, NY 10027
Whether you’re a lifelong theater lover or just looking for a night of sharp comedy in NYC, It’s Only a Play delivers big laughs, memorable characters, and the kind of behind-the-curtain chaos only live theater can offer.
