New Writing Takes Center Stage at Morningside Theater Co.

Morningside Theater Co. is shining a spotlight on fresh voices and original storytelling with New Writing from the Playwrights Group, happening Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 4 p.m.

This special showcase brings together a collection of new works from talented playwrights, offering audiences a chance to experience stories in their earliest, most exciting stage. The afternoon will feature selections including The Kaiser, Tea and Me by Ian Adrian, Althea: To Hell and Back by John Barrow, One and the Other by Noel Brooks, For Love of the Seahorse by Timothy Kelley, Headley by Pamela Kellner, and Life With Lily by Mark Speyer.

Hosted at Building 1, Community Center, 100 La Salle St., NYC, the event invites theater lovers, writers, neighbors, and curious newcomers to enjoy an afternoon of creativity, conversation, and community. Refreshments will follow the reading, and donations are welcome.

For anyone who loves discovering new plays before they reach a larger stage, this is a wonderful opportunity to support local theater and the artists shaping tomorrow’s stories.
